Foxwoods is the largest resort casino in the world, with more than 315,000 square feet of gaming space in a complex that covers 4.7 million square feet. Foxwoods offers 6,400 slot machines, 350 tables, and the world's largest bingo hall. In addition, there are 24 restaurants, nearly 20 retail shops totaling 12,000 square feet, an arcade for children, and a museum chronicling the history of the Pequot tribe that founded the resort.

Mohegan Sun Casino

15 Miles

Mohegan Sun is one of the most unique casinos in the world. It offers some of southeastern Connecticut's finest dining, live entertainment, and retail shopping. Mohegan Sun boasts 300,000 square feet of gaming space, more than 60 restaurants and shops, and the Kids Quest/Cyber Quest family entertainment facility. The complex is also home to the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

Mystic Seaport Museum

20 Miles

The "museum of America and the sea," Mystic Seaport is the largest and most comprehensive maritime museum in North America with more than one million artifacts, 17 acres of historic waterfront, and 40 historic buildings. Visitors may climb aboard traditional wooden boats, cruise in an antique steamboat, ride a horse-drawn carriage, and more. Neighboring downtown Mystic features casual and fine dining as well as shopping.

Mystic Aquarium

25 Miles

The Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration features nearly twenty animal species on exhibit, including whales, sharks, seals, sea lions, penguins, and more. In addition, it is the only aquarium in the world with exhibits based on work of Dr. Robert Ballard and his deep-ocean exploration team. Neighboring downtown Mystic features casual and fine dining as well as shopping.

Submarine Force Museum

25 Miles

Located on the Thames River in Groton, Connecticut, the Submarine Force Museum is the only submarine museum operated by the United States Navy. The museum's collections include more than 18,000 artifacts, 20,000 significant documents and 30,000 photographs, plus the historic, nuclear-powered USS Nautilus, which is open for public tours.

Misquamicut Beach

One of Rhode Island's most popular beaches, with 152 acres and a multi-million dollar bathing pavilion. There are several other Connecticut/Rhode Island beaches also within 30 miles of Backlund's.

Block Island Ferry

28 Miles

Ferry departs from New London, CT for Block Island, which lies off the Rhode Island coast. The island features 17 miles of beaches, 350 spring-fed freshwater ponds, lighthouses, shopping, and more.

Pachaug State Forest

2 Miles

The 22,938-acre Pachaug State Forest features miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, swimming, fishing, a rare rhododendron sanctuary, and southern white cedar swamps.

Norwich Golf Course
